Marwood Children's Christmas party

We decided to donate a cake to my husbands company Children's Christmas party. Marwood Ltd truly stands for being a family first sort of company. They pull out all the stops for the kids, with a lunch, magician and Santa who brings gifts for every child. All of this for nothing... I couldn't help but think that we could contribute to the event by bringing a cake. One big enough to feed everyone of course. It's the least we can do to say thank you to a really great employer.

The cake certainly was a hit, in both looks and taste. There's even some leftover for Paul to share in his office on Monday. (Since those who don't have kids didn't get to have any.) Each cake is a different flavor... marble pound, vanilla pound and chocolate pound with vanilla buttercream and fondant accents.

Thanks for looking and have a VERY Merry Christmas, from our family to yours!

Chicken Noodle Soup Cake

What's in the making of a chicken noodle soup to feed 200? Well 162 red squares, some fondant carrots, peas, noodles and chicken, a little yellow rock candy, 4 12x12 cakes and a few other details to finish it off. I accepted this order, with the help of my husband, who offered to be my assistant. We had date night, on a Saturday night...he rolled the red fondant while I cut it. We had date night Sunday night too... he put the glue on those red squares while I stuck them on the cake. I know... we're so romantic. :)

The cake is vanilla pound cake, covered in vanilla buttercream. Then covered in fondant. Everything is handmade of fondant. The soup bowl has a rice krispie base covered in fondnat and the rock candy. While this was time consuming, it was a lot of fun. And was nice to spend time with the hubby... even though I'm not used to having someone question my EVERY move. :)

These are fondant noodles, chicken, carrots and peas - for the soup. My daughter wasn't impressed that I used her plate. :)

Here's the final product, with a few closeups:

First Birthday Cake

This cake had many 'lives' before it became what it did. Chosing a first birthday cake for your little one isn't always easy. :) The mom sent me 2 photos to sort of bring together to make 1 kdfCREATION especially for her little girl. The cake is vanilla pound with vanilla buttercream and fondant accents. The smash cake is the same, with a fondant bow.

Winning Cruffle Pops

Here is the pkg that Courtney received for winning the Cruffle contest. I hope that she and her family enjoy them!

Baby Shower Cruffle Pops

Who knew I'd be making Cruffle Pops for the favour at my very own shower? My mom had me fooled! She asked if she could place an order to share with her coworkers to celebrate that I would be having a boy. So I put together a Cruffle Pop bouquet in a nice boy theme, something she could leave on her desk. When we arrived at her house to celebrate her birthday, it was decorated in blue with a baby shower sign. What a surprise! The guests were quite pleased to be receiving Cruffle Pops hopefully they all enjoyed them!

Birthday Hat Cake

My client sent me a photo of a hat cake she wanted me to recreate. I've always wanted to do a hat cake like this. :) Sadly, my pregnant brain is working against me. The first time I made the cake, I forgot to put the eggs in. IMAGINE. Thankfully, second time went well. Cake is red velvet, with vanilla buttercream covered in fondant. Flower was hand made with gumpaste. Feathers aren't edible. Birthday wish is cardstock cut out with my cricut.

Cake Pop Winner

We have 2 winners!

Paul and I came across a name that we both really liked. It is used for cake pops but is still unique enough that I've decided to use it also. The name is.....

Cruffles. Those on a stick will be Cruffle Pops. Some really fantastic names were submitted and many of you were on the same page as we were while we were trying to come up with a name. I absolutely appreciate the effort that you all put into your submissions.

The first winner is my mom, Cathie, who actually suggested the Cruffle name, completely by chance. BUT since I felt it seemed like such a biased win where she is my mom I decided to do a draw from all submissions for a SECOND prize of a dozen Cruffles.

The winner is...Courtney Bétournay. I will be emailing you to arrange delivery.
