Cupcakes

I don't normally do cupcakes but I thought it would be fun for a change. I made a variety pack with lemon, vanilla, chocolate, marble cupcakes covered in vanilla buttercream topped with fondant accents. This was for a group of Mom's of multiples, for their mother's day gathering. Hope they enjoyed them!

Happy Graduation!

This was a really fun request from a client. She sent me a photo of a cake she liked and we customized it. The figure is wearing the St. Thomas University grad gown and was made to look like my clients daughter. The cake is chocolate pound with peanut butter chips and peanut butter buttercream covered in fondant. The books, figurine and diploma are all fondant.

Kate's wedding...

You may have heard me say before NO WEDDINGS. I do mean that - sort of. Although you may believe it, I get very nervous with my cakes. I'm not a professional and get nervous over every single cake I make. Now, imagine if the cake is for the most important day of someone's life. I can't help but realize I could ruin someone's day if the cake didn't turn out... or fell... or didn't meet expectations. SO... I've done a few weddings but only for select few.

This wedding cake was for a repeat customer, sort of. I'd done a cake for the brides mother's cousin. Then for the brides mother's birthday. And finally the bride asked for me to do her cake. The reason I accepted is because the top and bottom tiers of the cake were fake. MUCH less damage can be done to a fallen piece of styrofoam. :) She ordered 7 quarter slabs of lemon pound cake filled with lemon filling and covered in lemon buttercream to feed her guests. The middle tier is real for cutting the cake. The bride was a DELIGHT to work with! Thanks Kate! All the best to you both!

STU Grad Cake

Grad season is upon us yet again and I got another awesome cake request. This time it was to recreate the St. Thomas university insignia, in cake of course. I carved a vanilla pound cake into the right shape, then decorated with fondant accents. I got to use my air brush to paint some of the cake. It was a lot of fun! Congrats to all the grads!

Ipod Cake

This was another fun and creative cake. I was asked if I could do an ipod cake. i POD? Really? Then I was asked if it could be on the facebook app with birthday wishes from friends and family. I loved the challenge and doing the research and am very pleased with the outcome. It's a 2 layer cake, 1 layer chocolate, 1 layer vanilla. Covered in fondant. Piping is done with royal icing, writing is done with edible food writers. I really enjoyed making this one. Hope the birthday girl liked it!

Happy Birthday to a Habs fan dad

I was asked to do a cake for a Habs fan... from his kids. Something simple. This is what I came up with... it's peanut butter pound cake, vanilla buttercream and fondant accents.

Cruffles

I can't believe I haven't posted in over a month! What was I thinking? Well I have been back at it... This post is all about Cruffles! I made a few bouquets, and experimented with some different flavors... Here's what I'm talking about:

Chocolate Peanut Butter - chocolate cake mixed with chocolate buttercream, dipped in chocolate, then dipped in peanut butter candy, then dipped in chocolate again.

Here are a few chocolate cruffles dipped in white chocolate.
