Cruffles

I can't believe I haven't posted in over a month! What was I thinking? Well I have been back at it... This post is all about Cruffles! I made a few bouquets, and experimented with some different flavors... Here's what I'm talking about:

Chocolate Peanut Butter - chocolate cake mixed with chocolate buttercream, dipped in chocolate, then dipped in peanut butter candy, then dipped in chocolate again.

Here are a few chocolate cruffles dipped in white chocolate.

Happy 40th - Friends being supportive

This was so much fun. I had received an email looking for a 'fun' 40th birthday cake. I found some cute ideas but this one wasn't in my surfing... instead the client asked about the 'bra' cake. So after a bit of googling I knew what she meant and was excited to get going. Bra is made from gumpaste. Cake is vanilla covered in vanilla buttercream. While I was doing it I had the following conversation with my daughter:
Mia - What's that Mommy.
Me - A bra.
Mia - What's a bra?
Me - Big girls wear them to cover their boobies.
Mia - WHOA big girls have boobies big like my head?

--Perhaps I made the bra a bit too large?

Pink Baby bum

This cake was a surprise for a client of mine. She's expecting a little girl in April and her coworkers ordered a baby bum cake for her. It's vanilla pound with vanilla buttercream and fondant accents. Hoping that she enjoyed her cake and wishing her all the best in the coming days of her pregnancy/delivery.

Basketball Birthday

This was a fun cake to do! It was for a joint birthday/basketball end of year party. The cake is chocolate chip swirl, filled with chocolate buttercream covered in vanilla buttercream with fondant accents. The 'bleachers' have 'fans' sitting in them (sprinkles) holding signs with the birthday boys names. Basketball nets are made of fondant and toothpicks.

Another Cupcake

This was a last minute order but I'm glad I did it. It was great getting back in the swing of things and the birthday girl was VERY pleased. That is the main goal as always! It's peanut butter pound cake with peanut buttercream filling and covered in vanilla buttercream with fondant accents. The customer sent me a photo of what they wanted and this was my 'recreation' of it. Mmm mmm.

Mermaid cake - Tough customer

This was a big order. Not only was it my first order of the year, or 10 days after having a baby. It was for my daughter who must have been telling me she's wanting a mermaid cake for at least 6 months now. Lucky for me she was VERY pleased with the cake. I'm pleased with it too, given we had a newborn in the house!

My best kdfCREATIONS

I can't believe this is my first post of the year! Then again... I've been a little busy...

As some of you may already know my husband and I were blessed with a son on February 16, 2011. We are now the perfect little family with our 3 year old daughter and our little guy. Here's a picture of my best kdfCREATIONS!

That said... I am getting busy again... cake orders are trickling in and I'm loving it. Sleep deprivation is making it a little difficult but I'm working it out. So if you have an order please contact me! Weekends fill up quickly.
