A wedding to remember

This is probably the most important cake I had to make ever, in all of my caking. I got to make it for my brother's wedding. It meant the world to me, to get to make it. What's even better is the memory of working on it in Mom's kitchen, the night before the wedding. Mom worked on stamping the bottom tier and we just chatted while we got the cake done. The cake for me holds so much emotion... the time spent with my mom, the day my baby brother got married and the fact that I pulled off a wedding cake which is my most feared cake of all!

Kate's wedding...

You may have heard me say before NO WEDDINGS. I do mean that - sort of. Although you may believe it, I get very nervous with my cakes. I'm not a professional and get nervous over every single cake I make. Now, imagine if the cake is for the most important day of someone's life. I can't help but realize I could ruin someone's day if the cake didn't turn out... or fell... or didn't meet expectations. SO... I've done a few weddings but only for select few.

This wedding cake was for a repeat customer, sort of. I'd done a cake for the brides mother's cousin. Then for the brides mother's birthday. And finally the bride asked for me to do her cake. The reason I accepted is because the top and bottom tiers of the cake were fake. MUCH less damage can be done to a fallen piece of styrofoam. :) She ordered 7 quarter slabs of lemon pound cake filled with lemon filling and covered in lemon buttercream to feed her guests. The middle tier is real for cutting the cake. The bride was a DELIGHT to work with! Thanks Kate! All the best to you both!

Elegant Wedding Cake

I was asked to do a wedding cake for a couple who were married in Cuba but would be having their reception locally. I don't do wedding cakes. To me, they're just too stressful. I mess up someones wedding cake, I could potentially mess up a little girls dream. Anyways... after many emails with the bride I decided to take it on. She was super easy going and made me feel very relaxed about it. The only info she gave me was that she wanted it black and white. She also asked for a black palm tree for a cake topper. I made 2 palm trees and gave her the option, so I don't have photos of the cake with either. The top 2 tiers were chocolate with vanilla buttercream. The bottom tier was vanilla pound. She seemed very happy with it... I hope she enjoyed the cake and her reception very much!

Chocolate Lovers Wedding cake

Here's my very first wedding cake. I've often said that I wouldn't do a wedding cake but this bride was AMAZING to work with. If all brides were like her, and if most weddings were to serve 50 or so people, I'd FOR SURE do more wedding cakes.
