Backyardigans... Again..

Doing this cake made me really miss these guys. My daughter isn't much into them anymore, but to be honest I think they're one of my favorite children shows/cartoons on right now. I love the imagination, the song and the dances. Anyways...the cake is chocolate fudge, covered in vanilla buttercream with fondant accents, characters are fondant. Apparently birthday girl liked it and they even saved the characters and have them on display somewhere. Not sure how long fondant will last, but hey...enjoy! :)

Another go at the BYG's...

I don't think I could ever get tired of Backyardigan cake requests. They're just the cutest little creatures, and they're so fun to work with. Not to mention it puts me in a song and dance mood...so I sing some of my favorites. If you're a Backyardigans fan you may know some of my faves, "Woah Daddy..." from Surfs up, "Simon Says" from Sinbad Sails Alone and "The corn song" it has to be my ultimate fave but I don't recall what episode it's from. Anyways... now that I've revealed the secret that yes, I am the one requesting to watch the BYG's, not my 2 year... I'll move on to the cake. :)

2 tier, chocolate fudge cake with vanilla buttercream. Characters are made with marshmallow fondant and the #4 is modelling chocolate and of course the Birthday boy's name is trent! Hope you like!

Backyardigans

Here's the whole crew, Pablo, Uniqua, Tyrone, Austin and Tasha. Mia recognized them when they were still in pieces! It's my first time sculpting with just fondant. TONS of fun. VERY time consuming though, BUT in the end, I LOVE the result!!!! Hopefuly the Mommy who ordered it and the birthday girl will love it too.

Uniqua - Take 2

So I recently took the jump to advertise on a local classifieds website. Well... People are dying for cake out there! Problem is, they're mostly huge orders. Wedding cakes, or events to serve MANY people. I'm just not equipped, or confident to take those orders quite yet. BUT I did get the following order. I was asked if I could do a Minie Mouse, Backyardigans or Toopie and Binou... I said I'd tackle any and just let me know what they wanted. They came back with a Uniqua cake, for 20 people. Since I did one before I wanted to change it up. So I decided to make most of the cake Uniqua. I think it turned out well and the Birthday girls Mom seemed happy. Hopefully the birthday girl really liked it!

It's fudge marble cake with buttercream frosting, styrofoam head and fondant eyes and antenna's.

Backyardigans - Uniqua

I was thrilled when I was asked to do a Backyardigans. Even more happy when it was Uniqua. I'm super pleased with the result and I think the client was too. It was for their daughters first birthday. Chocolate fudge cake with buttercream frosting.
