Backyardigans - Uniqua

I was thrilled when I was asked to do a Backyardigans. Even more happy when it was Uniqua. I'm super pleased with the result and I think the client was too. It was for their daughters first birthday. Chocolate fudge cake with buttercream frosting.

X Box 360

I was asked to do a slab cake for a boys 13th birthday. I guess he's into xbox so I was going to incorporate a piped image. I got a little carried away. I think it's time I venture into fondant cakes, it probably would have looked a bit better. That said the boy was very pleased with the cake. That's all that matters. It's chocolate fudge with vanilla buttercream.

Anniversary Cake

I was asked to do an anniversary cake for a friends parent's 50th anniversary. They're kind of outdoorsy people, they're in the maple syrup industry... I had showed my friend a few possibilities and she liked this idea and requested pink and blue flowers. The cake is fudge marble, buttercream filling/frosting with gumpaste flowers.

Chocoholic cake

I had a fun request to make a cake for a chocoholic. So this is what I came up with. 4 layer, chocolate fudge cake with chocolate buttercream, wrapped in piroulines (Chocolate cigars), covered in chunks of Oh Henry, with a semi sweet chocolate swirl. YUM!

First Birthday Cake

I was asked to make a chocolate fudge cake with chocolate buttercream for a little girls first birthday. They wanted butterflies, flowers, pink and purple and something they could keep as a keepsake for her. So I got butterflies and tied them to wire, piped a few flowers and Tada. The birthday banner is fondant piped with buttercream.

Horse Cake

I was asked to do a cake for 2 girls to celebrate their last day of school. They both love horses and their favorite colors are purple and green. The flowers may look blue in the photo, but they're purple. The horse is made of rice krispie treats, covered in fondant. Hopefully they'll like it.

Search and Rescue Cake

I was asked to do a cake for a coworker who volunteers for our local Search and Rescue. A longtime member is moving away and they're having a going away party for him. I decided to incorporate the teams logo. I didn't get the whole thing on the cake, but overall I'm pleased.

Company Picnic Cake

Here's a cake I did for my company picnic. It was a huge hit! It's partly chocolate pound cake, and partly vanilla poundcake. Everything is edible except for the top of the basket, which is cardboard. I was VERY proud of this cake!

Black Forest Cake

My first go at what I would consider a 'specialty' cake. This is a black forest cake with a cherry buttercream filling and whipped cream topping, with chocolate crumbs and cherry pie filling. Hopefully it'll taste as good as it looks!

Barbie Birthday Cake

Here's a cake for a little girl turning 4. It's my first barbie cake... I'd like to make a few changes for next time. Otherwise, I think it looks decent.

Lightning McQueen

I was asked to make a Lightning McQueen cake for a little boy (Trent) who's turning 3. Initially I was going to rent the 2d cake pan, and do it that way. Then I was inspired by someone elses version who used the car cake pan that I own, so I had to give it a shot. It took 3 hours to decorate, but I am very pleased with the outcome. From the color to the spoiler on the back (that's a Skor chocolate bar!) I hope they love it just as much as I do!

Birthday cake for Mom

Here's a cake I made for a coworker for his wife's birthday, from his daughters. I thought I'd make it "fun" with girly colors, since it was from the girls. The fact that it was about 30 degrees in the house made it challengeing but I think it turned out ok. It's chocolate fudge cake with vanilla buttercream frosting.
